Grindavik Volcanic Boost 2026 will take place on August 12th, 2026. Distances are from 10 km up to 50 km. The event is based on experience from the Reykjanes Volcano Ultra race which took place several years ago but had to be canceled due to volcanic eruptions in the area.
Distances
The distances that will be available are estimated at 10 km, 21 km, 42 km and 50 km. Maps of the running routes will be available soon here on this website and on the Facebook page of the event.
Race time
The races will be on Wednesday, August 12, which is exactly the solar eclipse "day". The races will be underway when the solar eclipse occurs.

Registration for the race is here at hlaup.is, see at the top of this page. Pre-registration price until 31.12.2025:
- 10 km - 4,900 ISK
- 21 km - 7,900 ISK
- 42 km - 12,900 ISK
- 50 km - 17,900 ISK

The races will take place no matter what, but volcanic action may cause the race to be moved slightly from Grindavik, but the date will remain the same.
