The Hafnarfjörður Run will be held for the first time on Thursday, June 8 at 20:00 in cooperation with the FH Athletics Department, Hafnarfjarðarbær and Fjarðarkaup.
Description
The Hafnarfjörður race will join a small group of street races in Iceland, as the race will actually take place on the streets of the town, but traffic will be closed during the race.
The center of the race will be at Thorsplan, where the race will both start and end. There will be a varied program before and after the race, but spectators and competitors will be invited to compete in a variety of freestyle puzzles.
On the running route there will be a refreshment station at the 5 km mark and at Thorsplan at the end of the race, but there will also be other refreshments available. Competitors will be able to use storage for their items during the race, and there will also be toilet facilities on Strandgata.
After the race, all participants will be invited to go swimming in Suðurbæjarlaug, which will be open until midnight.

All participants will have the chance to win impressive prizes that will be awarded in collaboration with the tournament's partners. Race course
The Hafnarfjörður Run is a 10 km street race. An attempt was made to limit turns and slopes in the race, so the course should be ideal for improvements.
The race will start on Strandgatu by Thorsplan and run along it towards Suðurbæjarlaug. From there, Suðurgatan will be run and you will cross the creek and up Álfaskeið, where a very flat and fast section begins. There you will go through the lava and into Norðurbær Hafnarfjörður, where, among other things, you will run on Hjallabraut, Breiðvangi and Norðurvangi. Next, runners take a small lap at our greens in Garðabær around Garðaholt, but then come down to Herjólfsgata, where a fast final section begins with a nice descent that ends back at Thorsplan.
You can see a map of the route at the bottom of the page.
